A visit to the Mill
On a recent trip to the Netherlands my husband and I came across a lovely gallery in a windmill. We were welcomed by Marleen Hansen who runs workshops and therapy sessions there as well as painting her absolutely lovely paintings. We had a bit hair-raising moment at one point in the gallery because my little son started running around and there were some rather nice organic-ceramic art works by Carla Wolfs there too, so in fast hunting mode, we trapped him and pinned him to the ground. Well, not really but we made sure all arms and legs were out of reach of anything remotely breakable, as it really would have been a shame to break any of them. Because of the little monkey I didn't get any pictures of her stuff but have a look at her site, it's rather nice. I got few pictures of the paintings and this one of Marleen's paintings I particularly liked :

I know that both sites are in Dutch, but I think you can still get the gist of them and their work is rather nice.

Summer swap

I took part in A Folksy Summer swap and I received some really cute goodies from amyorangejuice
I really like her work so it was a lovely surprise. I took two pictures of the heart as it looked so nice with the sun shining through it. The little brooch was also very nice and will cheer me up when it's no so sunny as today. Thanks Amy!

Amazing returning Cat

Just a picture of my niece with her lovely cat who vanished for five weeks (the cat that is)! But he's home and safe now. Isn't he gorgeous?

A cultural shopping trip!
On Saturday the 8th of May I went for a little shopping trip in Roermond, expecting the usual street organ and a normal market. However they had a wonderful festival on and the streets were filled with music and dance and lots and lots of colour. Although there is no music I just wanted to share this fun event with you.

Bead Heaven in Holland!

There I was minding my own business when on holiday in Groningen last week , when I came across this lovely shop.

It was quite busy with loads of people sitting down making their own jewellery after picking and choosing from all the wonderful goodies on offer. As I had to meet someone I only succumbed to two large wooden hand painted beads. But ooohh would I have liked to spend some time there. Fortunately they do have a on-line shop!

It does look absolutely wonderful doesn't it?

Whilst on holiday I went to Bruggen in Gemany with my family. I was surprised a cup of tea could be this exciting! Tea was served in a double walled glass and with it came a box with the teabag, a lovely spiced biscuit and Kandij, a kind of rough cane sugar. Thoroughly enjoyed that! And my son's enjoying a lovely cup of chocolate.
